Target Points of New Hepatitis C Vaccine

If we know about the functioning of any virus, we will be able to develop certain techniques to destroy the virus. Same thing has happened with virus of Hepatitis C recently. Researchers have found some weak points of the virus of Hepatitis C. Now, they are planning to target these weak parts and functions of the virus of Hepatitis C.

Current vaccines for Hepatitis C are costly and effective for some time. There is not any effective vaccine available in the market to get rid of the disease completely. University of New South Wales has conducted research on the weak points of the virus to eliminate them. They have finally found two weak points of the virus to eliminate its effects. Researchers have found the first weak point at the time of transmission. It is the time period when virus has to transfer from one individual to another for its survival. The second astonishing thing is the diversity in the variants of virus in among different individuals. This individual pattern appears at least three months after the transmission of the virus. This is the time when immune system makes the preparations to deal with the virus. If there are low numbers of variants of the virus, there will be higher chances of elimination of the virus. In short, it will be easier to kill the virus with lower variants.

Researchers have discovered all these weaknesses through a new method. This new method is next generation deep sequencing and sophisticated computer analytics. Basically, this kind of virus mutates at a rapid speed and exists in a large family. It was relatively difficult to detect the early transmission and mutation of the virus in an individual. New technology has made the procedure quite easier to detect the virus at earlier stages.
